Transportation of long rotor blades across India to remote locations for Suzlon Energy Limited
CLIENT
Suzlon Energy Limited.
LOCATION
KVA Substation Belugappa, Anantapur – AP
TYPE OF PROJECT
Dead weight DOC Multimodel Transportation
Scope of work
Transportation of 54mtr long Rotor Blade from Dhule (Maharashtra) district to Anantapur (AP) , total distance of 1200kms
Key Challenges
The length of the cargo made transportation through densely populated rural areas a significant challenge
Our approach
The road width allowed only a low turning radius and hence widening activity was undertaken. We involved local people and tied up with village administrative authorities for this.
We optimized the low turning radius through removal of dividers on NH with compliance from competent authorities; these were reinstated post-execution
Removal and fixation of overhead restrictions through pruning of tree branches and removal of wooden logs, heightening of electrical/ cable wires with prior approval from APSEB, concerned forest departments and other statutory bodies
Elimination of extended protrusions restricting turning radius, such as shops, traffic signals – with due compensation and permissions
Development of new causeway near Raidurgam town – widening of roads of ~0.50kms, passing a 54mtr blade trailer under the railway bridge
Procurement of the land near Kalyandurg for turning of long vehicles
Leased agricultural land for facilitation blade transportation
Sustainability focus
We used Bharat Stage IV prime movers and barging, both which had low carbon emission rates
